Optional Extras
1. Magnetic Stripe
Placement Instructions:
- Indicate magnetic stripe position on an additional PDF page, separate from the main artwork files.
- Use 100% black ink only.
- Depth of the mag stripe is always 12mm.
- Positioned on the reverse of the card, either 4mm from the top or bottom edge.
- Avoid placing important information within 3mm of the magnetic stripe.
- Consider avoiding text directly above the magstripe for optimal design.
Additional Information for Encoding:
- For HiCo Encoding, confirm data type (numbers, letters, or both) and track type.
- Data for encoding is determined by the system/reader the cards will be used in.
- Magnetic stripe contains tracks; Track 1 is for alphanumeric data, Track 2 is numeric only.
For Alphanumeric Data:
- A ZIP file is required, including a PDF with magnetic stripe location and an Excel file for non-sequential or non-numerical data.
For Numeric Data:
- Same ZIP file requirement as above, but with sequential numbering provided as a finishing note (e.g., “001-500”).
2. Signature Panels
Placement Instructions:
- Indicate signature panel on a separate PDF page.
- Use 50% magenta + 100% yellow only.
- Panels are usually landscape, with standard dimensions of 75mm x 8mm.
- Maximum dimensions are 82mm x 15mm without bleeding off the edge.
- Positioned on the reverse of the card.
3. Punched Holes & Slots
Placement Instructions:
- Indicate holes or slots on an additional PDF page.
- Use a solid circle/slot in 50% magenta + 100% yellow ink.
- Holes/slots must be at least 5mm from any edge.
- Standard hole size is 5mm in diameter.
- Slot dimension is 3mm x 16mm.
- Position holes/slots in corners or centrally along edges.
4. Numbering
Placement Instructions:
- Indicate numbering location on a separate PDF page.
- Specify CMYK colour, font (Arial), size, and starting number.
- Sequential numbering can be alphanumeric.
- Provide number sequence as a finishing note (e.g., “0001-1000”).
5. Barcodes
Placement Instructions:
- Indicate barcode location and size on an additional PDF page.
- Provide number sequence as a finishing note (e.g., “0001-1000”).
- Choose Code 128 for high data density or Code 39 for small goods.
6. Personalisation for Plastic Cards and NFC Cards
Placement Instructions:
- Indicate personalization elements on a separate PDF page using 100% magenta ink.
- ZIP file required with PDF indicating location, Excel data, folder with photos (if required), and a colour mock-up sample PDF.
- Excel data should have field headers in the first row.
File Supply for Photos:
- Photos must be accurately referenced in the data file.
- Preferred format is TIFF (JPEG accepted).
- Minimum of 300dpi in CMYK format.
